A presentation given by Dr Martin Williams(a visiting author) on 12th December, 2014.
Martin was born and educated in the UK but has lived in Hong Kong since 1987. He is a writer, photographer, video maker, nature tour leader and ecological consultant. Author Sarah Brennan visited us on 22nd & 28th October, 2014.
Born and raised in Australia, Sarah has been living and writing in Hong Kong more than 15 years, so she can be called a well-known local writer for children. She started writing as early as seven years old and now has a publishing house of her own. This year we had invited her to come to speak with our Y3 students on creative writing, Y4 students on poetry and also our teachers on promoting reading . If you want to know more about her, please visit her website and her blog.
Author and Illustrator Liz Million visited CKY on March 10, 2014!
Leading UK children’s author Ms Liz Million is currently touring schools throughout the UK and abroad with her unique style of story-telling. Liz gave a talk to each year in primary at CKY. All students had great fun with her. Liz showed vividly how effective art could help to bring kids' feelings out and how expressive art could be for students in primary years. It was amazing how Liz captured the attention of hundreds of kids during hour-long sessions, and those visual learners felt especially connected that there was someone who spoke their language and understood them.
Liz spent three years at Kingston University (Surrey), studying a degree in Illustration. She now lives with her husband, Mark, their gorgeous baby George, and two furry guinea pigs. She also now has a lovely studio where she creates her characters and stories. In her free time, Liz enjoys photography, visiting art exhibitions, animals, dancing to 70's disco tunes, talking, falling over, laughing at people falling over and annoying everyone with her loud voice and brilliant accents! You can find out more about Liz Million on her official website: http://www.lizmillion.com/, and for her recent art work, you can follow her on Twitter @liz_million
