Replacement Policy
The borrower of the record is responsible for the safe and timely return of the library material. Notification of overdue or lost material is a service provided by the library. Failure to receive a notice does not free the borrower of responsibilities.
The library reserves the right to determine how the lost or damaged item will be replaced. The grace period we give for providing a new copy is two weeks.
Replacing a lost or damaged book is not as simple as buying a book. The process of replacing a book can be divided into two categories: time and materials. Librarians and support staff are all involved in the processing of a book. The cost of materials is small; however, time for processing a book is significant.
The following tasks are involved in replacing a lost or damaged book.
· Verifying that the book is lost between the library and student who is responsible
· Identifying the replacement copy between a librarian and the responsible student
· Creating a cataloging record for the replacement copy
· Receiving replacement copy from the responsible student
· Technical processing the new copy - call number label, security strip, due date slip
· If an exact match cannot be found, a search is made to locate a suitable replacement

Once a book has been declared "lost" or “damaged”, you become ineligible to borrow or renew materials at the Circulation Desk. To reinstate your privileges, you must contact the library as soon as possible in order to start the process of replacing a lost or damaged book.
